This mobile was made for a friend's baby. Some of the other
mobiles have pieces that hang vertically but this one was designed to
hang horizontally such that a baby in a crib could see the
pieces. Look closely at the green piece to see why it's called
"Julia's Mobile" The lighter blue piece shows why yours truly is
known as her Tio Alce (Spanish for "Uncle Moose" as her mother is from
Argentina).
All pictures in the slideshow can be enlarged and the three thumbnails are videos.
One thing these pieces are designed to do is
cast interesting shadows and there are pictures of that here. One
of the pictures shows how they not only cast shadows but have sunlight
reflect off the top of them too which can be an interesting and totally
unplanned effect. The piece with the embedded colored sections was a
lot
of work, way more than anticipated (but it usually works out that
way). In the future, I'd like to do more with this style but I also might get lazy and not do it :-).

All these pieces are laser cut acrylic using the Flamingo software.
